Ginger &amp; garlic paste<br />
Garam Masala powder- 3 tsp<br />
Chicken Masala powder &#8211;                    3tsp<br />
Red chilies &#8211; 4<br />
Coriander powder &#8211; 3 tsp<br />
pepper                    &#8211; 1 tsp<br />
Coriander leaves<br />
Mint Leaves</span></p>
<p><span>Add the tomatoes,                    after the tomatoes are well fried add the cut Mutton, fry them                    add the paste &amp; salt.</span></p>
<p>And let the Mutton cook well                    with the water in the paste and the water from the                    tomato.</p>
<p>Reduce the flame and let the chicken cook for                    40 minutes.</p>
<p>Add the garam Masala and chicken masala                    powder, red chilli powder.</p>
<p>Then add the mint leaves and                    coriander leaves .</p>
<p>Let the paste simmer and blend with                    the mutton , that&#8217;s very important that there should be no                    extra water .Always cook the mutton in a low flame.</p>

<p>No wonder people search out a tonic if they have anemia: The disease causes dizziness and fatigue, even during non-strenuous activities. Iron-deficient anemia is the most common type, and occurs when your body doesn’t have the required iron content to produce hemoglobin, the protein that carries oxygen to all parts of your body and provides energy for you to carry out your daily activities.</p>
<p>Iron is of two types – heme which is easily absorbed by the human body and non-heme which is not. While non-vegetarian foods like red meat and eggs are rich sources of the heme form, vegetarians have to augment their intake of iron from foods like beets (also known as beetroots), blackstrap molasses and green leafy vegetables. It’s important to also include foods rich in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, because they help in the absorption of non-heme iron.</p>
<p>Here are two recipes – one vegetarian and the other non-vegetarian – for dishes that are rich in iron and can help keep anemia at bay:</p>
<p><strong>Beetroot-Fruit Cocktail </strong><br />
<em>Serves 2</em></p>
<ul>
<li>1 medium-sized beet</li>
<li>2 ripe pears</li>
<li>1 small lime</li>
<li>½ red bell pepper</li>
<li>1 handful of basil leaves</li>
</ul>
<ol>
<li>Wash the beet and the pears.</li>
<li>Peel them and then chop them into small pieces, and place them in a blender.</li>
<li>Squeeze the juice from the lime into the blender.</li>
<li>Wash, de-seed and chop the bell pepper, and place the pieces in the blender.</li>
<li>Wash and use a course chop on the basil leaves, and place them in the blender.</li>
<li>Run the blender until you get the consistency juice of juice you want. You can also use the same ingredients in a juicer.</li>
</ol>
<p>The juice has to be consumed within an hour or so after preparation to ensure you get all the nutrients. It’s a good recipe for those prone to anemia because beet juice is rich in both iron and folic acid, and lime is rich in vitamin C, which is the catalyst that helps the body absorb iron from non-heme sources.</p>
<p><strong>Ham and Beans</strong><br />
<em>Serves 6</em></p>
<ul>
<li>3 lbs smoked ham</li>
<li>2 lbs dried Great Northern beans</li>
<li>2 dried peppers</li>
<li>2 onions</li>
<li>4 cloves of garlic</li>
<li>1 tsp black pepper</li>
<li>½ cup blackstrap molasses</li>
<li>½ cup brown sugar</li>
<li>½ cup mustard</li>
</ul>
<ol>
<li>Rinse and dry the beans.</li>
<li>Fill a Dutch oven with the amount of water indicated on the package directions for the beans, and then add the beans. Cover and cook at the temperature indicated in the directions.</li>
<li>Add the ham and remaining ingredients when the beans are cooked half-way, based on the time in the package directions.</li>
<li>Cook for the remaining indicated time.</li>
</ol>
<p>This dish contains both red meat (ham) and blackstrap molasses, both of which are rich in iron and help enrich the hemoglobin content in your blood.</p>
<p>And here are some quick concoctions that can also help prevent anemia or address it if you already have it:</p>
<ul>
<li>Twice a day: eat a ripe banana dipped in 1 tbs. honey.</li>
<li>Once a day: drink a mixture of beet juice, apple juice and one tbs. honey.</li>
<li>Once a day: drink a mixture of apple juice and tomato juice.</li>
<li>Soak currants overnight, de-seed and eat in the morning.</li>
</ul>

<p>The only problem is a slight green tinge because of its unusual ingredients, which promote weight loss.<br />

The chocolate, made by Spanish manufacturer Cocoa Bio, contains the dietary supplement spirulina, a microscopic algae with high level of nutrients like vitamin A and B12, which have weight loss benefits.</p>
<p>The makers also claim that the presence of special amino acids trick the eater into believing they are not hungry and prevent them overeating.</p>
<p>The recipe includes phenylalanine, an amino acid that stimulates cholecystokinin – a peptide hormone secreted by the brain to suppress hunger.</p>
<p>Cocoa BIO said that the chocolate does not contain cholesterol, and also help digestion by boosting a healthy level of intestinal bacteria.</p>
<p>Lola is 100 per cent natural and is made using biological cocoa from Peru and Santa Domingo.<br />
<br />
&#8220;It has an intense flavour and extremely high antioxidant properties,” the Telegraph quoted one of its inventors, Armando Yanez, as saying.</p>
<p>&#8220;People should eat one or two chocolates around one hour before a meal. They&#8221;&#8221;ll feel pleasantly full and less likely to be eating to excess later on,&#8221; Yanez added.</p>

Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cranberries, strawberries and loganberries are known to contain cancer-fighting phytonutrients, such as anthocyanins, ellagic acid, pterostilbene and resveratrol. In fact, extracts of six types of berries were tested in one laboratory study to determine whether they could prevent the growth and proliferation of different types of cancer cells. Each berry type was found to have unique phytonutrient combinations and extracts of all of them killed cancer cells.</p>
<p>Also, garlic produces a chemical called allicin which can be beneficial for mesothelioma patients. Garlic appears to have the greatest affect on stomach cancer and prostate cancer in men, but affects have been noted in all types of cancer and on different carcinogens.</p>

<p>Soft drinks are hard on your health<br />
Soft drinks contain little to no vitamins or other essential nutrients. However, it is what they do contain that is the problem: caffeine, carbonation, simple sugars — or worse, sugar substitutes — and often food additives such as artificial coloring, flavoring, and preservatives.</p>
<p>A lot of research has found that consumption of soft drinks in high quantity, especially by children, is responsible for many health problems that include tooth decay, nutritional depletion, obesity, type-2 diabetes, and heart disease.<br />
Why the sugar in soft drinks isn’t so sweet<br />
Most soft drinks contain a high amount of simple sugars. The USDA recommendation of sugar consumption for a 2,000-calorie diet is a daily allotment of 10 teaspoons of added sugars. Many soft drinks contain more than this amount!<br />
<br />
Just why is too much sugar so unhealthy? Well, to start, let&#8217;s talk about what happens to you as sugar enters your body. When you drink sodas that are packed with simple sugars, the pancreas is called upon to produce and release insulin, a hormone that empties the sugar in your blood stream into all the tissues and cells for usage. The result of overindulging in simple sugar is raised insulin levels. Raised blood insulin levels beyond the norm can lead to depression of the immune system, which in turn weakens your ability to fight disease.</p>
<p>Something else to consider is that most of the excess sugar ends up being stored as fat in your body, which results in weight gain and elevates risk for heart disease and cancer. One study found that when subjects were given refined sugar, their white blood cell count decreased significantly for several hours afterwards. Another study discovered that rats fed a high-sugar diet had a substantially elevated rate of breast cancer when compared to rats on a regular diet.</p>
<p>The health effects of diet soda<br />
You may come to the conclusion that diet or sugar-free soda is a better choice. However, one study discovered that drinking one or more soft drinks a day — and it didn’t matter whether it was diet or regular — led to a 30% greater chance of weight gain around the belly.</p>
<p>Diet soda is filled with artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, sucralose, or saccharin. These artificial sweeteners pose a threat to your health. Saccharin, for instance, has been found to be carcinogenic, and studies have found that it produced bladder cancer in rats.</p>
<p>Aspartame, commonly known as nutrasweet, is a chemical that stimulates the brain to think the food is sweet. It breaks down into acpartic acid, phenylalanine, and methanol at a temperature of 86 degrees. (Remember, your stomach is somewhere around 98 degrees.) An article put out by the University of Texas found that aspartame has been linked to obesity. The process of stimulating the brain causes more cravings for sweets and leads to carbohydrate loading.</p>
<p>Carbonation depletes calcium<br />
Beverages with bubbles contain phosphoric acid, which can severely deplete the blood calcium levels; calcium is a key component of the bone matrix. With less concentration of calcium over a long time, it can lower deposition rates so that bone mass and density suffer. This means that drinking sodas and carbonated water increases your risk of osteoporosis.<br />
<br />
Add in the caffeine usually present in soft drinks, and you are in for even more trouble. Caffeine can deplete the body’s calcium, in addition to stimulating your central nervous system and contributing to stress, a racing mind, and insomnia.</p>
<p>Skip the soda and go for:</p>
<p>• Fresh water<br />
Water is a vital beverage for good health. Each and every cell needs water to perform its essential functions. Since studies show that tap water is filled with contaminants, antibiotics, and a number of other unhealthy substances, consider investing in a quality carbon-based filter for your tap water. <p>On the go? Try using a stainless steel thermos or glass bottle, filled with filtered water. Enhance the flavor of your water with a refreshing infusion of basil, mint leaves, and a drop of honey.</p>
<p>• Fruit Juice<br />
If you are a juice drinker, try watering down your juice to cut back on the sugar content. Buy a jar of organic 100% juice, especially cranberry, acai, pomegranate, and then dilute three parts filtered water to one part juice. You will get a subtle sweet taste and the benefit of antioxidants. After a couple of weeks, you will no longer miss the sweetness of sugary concentrated juices.</p>
<p>• Tea<br />
Tea gently lifts your energy and has numerous health benefits. Black, green, white, and oolong teas all contain antioxidant polyphenols. In fact, tea ranks as high or higher than many fruits and vegetables on the ORAC scale, the score that measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods.</p>
<p>Herbal tea does not have the same antioxidant properties, though it is still a great beverage choice with other health benefits, such as inducing calming and relaxing effects.<br />

<p>For most people, the <span id="lw_1256961040_5">time  shift</span> in the spring is more problematic because an hour is &#8220;lost&#8221; rather  than &#8220;gained,&#8221; but for those who are disrupted by any change in schedule,  Malhotra offered these coping tips:</p>
<ul></p>
<li>Stay away from caffeine and other stimulants, especially during the days  before and after the time shift, and avoid napping for a few days because it can  disrupt your sleeping at night.</li>
<li>Sleep through that extra hour if you can instead of trying to get things  done.</li>
<li>Don&#8217;t drive if you feel sleepy because of the time shift. Consider taking  <span id="lw_1256961040_6">public transportation</span> for a few  days to give your body time to adjust.</li>
<li>Relax, avoid stress and remember to take your regular medications over the  weekend of the time change.</li>
</ul>
<p>For those who have trouble sleeping overall, Malhotra suggested the  following:</p>
<ul></p>
<li>Go to bed and wake up at the same times, even on weekends. No sleeping in.</li>
<li>Avoid food and drinks with caffeine after lunch, including coffee, tea, soda  and chocolate.</li>
<li>Take 15 to 30 minutes to wind down before heading off to bed.</li>
<li>Keep your room dark, quiet and cool; <span id="lw_1256961040_7" style="background: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; cursor: hand; border-bottom: #0066cc 1px dashed;">ear  plugs</span> and eye masks can help.</li>
<li>Keep in mind that time in front of screens &#8212; the computer or television  varieties &#8212; before bedtime can disrupt sleep.</li>
<li>Don&#8217;t work or study right before bedtime, in order to allow yourself to  relax.</li>
<p></p>
<li>Don&#8217;t exercise strenuously right before bedtime.</li>
</ul>
